Three ways to celebrate the Olympics!


Olympic PE Class

An Olympian teaches your PE class!
Suggested starting donation: $150class
All proceeds benefit the Rochester Area Fencing Foundation a 501(c)3.
  • A hands-on presentation in gym class.
  • Olympian Iris Zimmermann and one or two coaches will demonstrate fencing, give a 10 min. talk on the sport, and then pass out foam “swords”-pool noodles stuck on a piece of pvc pipe-to teach the fundamentals of foil fencing to your students.
  • Kids will learn how to advance, retreat, lunge, and parry.
  • They will learn about the target area and the rules regarding right of way/ scoring.

Olympic Day Celebration

In Collaboration with the U.S. Olympic Committee
  • An official Olympic Day celebration in collaboration with the USOC (U.S. Olympic Committee)
  • Includes a free flag and Olympic Event tool kit.
  • *This kind of event could be either of the two options on this page (an assembly or gym class)
  • It must be registered with the USOC and must occur between May 30-June 30th, 2016.
  • Olympic Day is celebrated every year on June 23rd, 2016 commemorating the date that Baron Pierre de Coubertin began the task of reviving the Olympic Games when he created a committee responsible for the organization of the first modern Olympics.
