We invite fencers of all ages with AT LEAST one year of competitive experience. Our coach David Taylor will be providing focused and individualized instruction. Our mission is to provide high quality coaching to ensure you will accomplish your summer training goals.
We will be focusing on footwork and blade work in regard to the tactics of fencing foil. It would be useful to bring video recording material for the camp for the best opportunity for feedback.

Space is limited to 25 fencers per day.

The cost of the camp is:
$300 for five days
$420.00 for all 7 days
$50 per half day session (must receive an invite from the coach)
If you can only attend a few days, the cost per day for the camp is $95
RFC ALLstar Members will receive a Discount of $100

We require a non-refundable registration fee of $100 to hold your spot. The remaining balance will be paid on the first day of camp via check or credit card.

Please note we are following both guidelines from USA Fencing, National, State and local authorities on health and safety protocols. We are doing our best in following the changing requirements and will keep all campers updated.

 

 

Sabre

Aug 30 – Sept 3
9AM-3PM

Fencers with AT LEAST one year of competitive experience are invited to attend RFC’s Competitive Sabre Summer Camp run by coach, fencer, international referee, and friend of RFC Chris Cheney! He will be joined by Zack Brown and Lindsay Stapleton to help competitive sabre fencers jump-start their new season training. The focus is on providing high-quality, one-on-one coaching for the athlete to accomplish their training goals for the upcoming season.

Out-of-town guests will also be able to participate in our evening practices run by Coach Chris, who will also be available for private lessons.

It would be useful to bring video recording material for the camp for the best opportunity for feedback. We will have several coaches on staff participating so that every fencer will have one-on-one specific attention.

COST:
$425 for all five days
Per day cost for the camp is $95
RFC Member Discount of $50

A non-refundable registration fee of $100 is required to hold your spot. The balance will be paid on the first day of camp via check or credit card. If housing is required a supplemental housing fee will be required and please contact kim@rocfencing.com for more details.

Coaches

 

 

David Taylor joined us from Britain in 2010. There he earned a degree in Sports Science while studying under Polish fencing master Tomek Walicki. He went on to coach numerous national champions and have his fencers qualify for junior and senior world championship teams and olympic teams. 

 

 

 

 

Chris Cheney is 2x team national champion and is currently a professional coach and fencing consultant. He has 11 years of professional coaching experience including six years owning and running a successful saber program in Nashville, Tennessee that produced multiple state and regional champions, national medalists, and internationally competitive athletes. 

In addition to coaching, Chris is a professional referee on the national, international, and NCAA circuit, and holds an FIE license in saber. 

Prior to his tenure at TMFC, Chris has also coached at MidSouth Fencers Club in North Carolina and Durkan Fencing in New Jersey where he was a training partner for multiple national team members.

In 2018/19, Chris spent 10 months traveling to visit over 25 fencing clubs to learn first hand about fencing in the US with the intent to learn as much as possible about the ecosystem of saber and how to best develop fencing in the future.

 

 

 

 

Zack Brown is one of the most well known coaches and referees in the United States. Athletes he has coached have made Jr world teams, Vet world teams, and won Division 1 National Championships and international Cadet Cups. As a fencer he represented

 

 Team USA on the Sr World Cup circuit and has medaled at multiple Division 1 events. As a referee he has officiated in the finals of multiple USA Fencing, FIE, and NCAA championships.  

 

Zack holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rutgers University and a Masters Degree in Consumer Psychology from NYU. 

 

 

 

 

 

Lindsay Stapleton is an experienced fencing coach and instructor with over 15 years of experience.  After fencing collegiately at University of California Santa Barbara, she has since coached in a number of top clubs across the country, including Salle Auriol Seattle, Temple University, Boston Fencing Club, Tim Morehouse Fencing Club, South Bay Fencing, and Elite Fencing Club. She is well versed in many methods and systems of training, having worked side by side with a number of the best coaches and fencers in the world. In addition to coaching, Lindsay is a certified international referee in saber and a USFA certified referee instructor. Lindsay has worked nationally and internationally as a referee for USFA for over 10 years.

 

Lindsay holds a B.A. from U.C. Santa Barbara and holds a teaching certificate from the District of Columbia.
